The Rolex Company has reported that Margaret Atwood, one of the most exciting adventure novelists in modern-day history and a Rolex Datejust enthusiast, will be tasked to mentor U.K. novelist Naomi Alderman. The pairing is a result of the Rolex Arts Initiative, which pairs proven masters with growing arts professionals in the film, literature, theater, music, and visual arts fields.
Alderman is a 37-year-old novelist who was educated at Oxford and has written the novels Disobedience, The Lessons, and the Liars Gospel. Atwood hand-selected Alderman out of several applicants and is excited to get working with the young budding author who began writing full-time following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Alderman decided that the event revealed that being stuck in a less than fulfilling job wasn’t an option any more.
Atwood has long been a Rolex fan and is involved in the Rolex Arts Initiative because of its focus on excellence and pure dedication. Additionally, it has been rumored that Atwood commonly sports a Rolex Oyster Datejust Lady Perpetual. The Rolex Datejust offers flawless and inspirational design elements, which has led artists around the globe seeking the watch out for their very own.
By joining the Rolex Arts Initiative, Atwood joins an impressive list of mentors including Lin Hwai-min, Watler Murch, Gilberto Gil, Patrice Chereau, and William Kentridge. Additionally, past mentors have included Toni Morrison, Wole Soyinka, and Hans Magnus Enzensberger. Each of the present and past participants is committed to the Rolex Company’s pursuit to inspire emerging artists. They are also rumored to be Rolex watch enthusiasts, admiring the amazing quality of the Rolex Cellini, Rolex President, Rolex Date, Rolex Datejust, and other leading models.
Through participating in the Rolex mentorship program, Alderman hopes to figure out how to shape the next 20 years of her career and life. Without a doubt, the sky is the limit for Alderman and her peers, thanks to the help of the Rolex Company and master artists willing to inspire others.
