The Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 was introduced in 1988 with both black and white dial options. A number of the watches with white dials in the early years of production had a white dial paint that turned a cream color. The cream color can vary in tone, but is particularly warm and attractive on this example. It also provides a nice constrast against the tritium luminous material that is white in the hands and on the dial. These watches are highly prized by collectors and extremely rare to find, particularly with boxes and papers and from the original owner. These cream dial watches are worth significantly more than their normal polar-white dial counterparts.
The dial appears to be original, and has aged to a warm cream color. The tritium luminous material on the dial remains quite bright white in contrast with the cream base of the dial. The hour, minute, seconds, and 24-hour hands all appear to be original, with the original tritium lume matching the dial.
The case appears to have been polished, but is overall quite full and nice.
The bezel appears to have been lightly polished.
The bracelet appears to have been polished, and is a newer replacement, not correct for the reference: a 93150 with 501B end links and T2 clasp code, dating production to 1995.
The crystal has been replaced. It has what appears to be the original Twinlock crown. The watch is running and keeping time, and a one-year service warranty is included. The bracelet has 11 links, and will approximately fit an 7.25 inch wrist.
