The Oyster Perpetual line was developed in the 1950s and utilizes two of Rolex's most innovative creations, the waterproof Oyster case and the perpetual movement. The case itself was invented in 1926 and features a process of screwing the case back, bezel, and crown into the middle case to create a hermetic seal. This process protects the movement within from water damage, moisture, and dust particles. The Rolex Perpetual movement was developed a few years later in the 1930s and uses the movement of the wearer's wrist to power itself. Reliable and resilient, the Oyster Perpetual is the watch of choice among many avid pre-owned Rolex collectors. The ladies variation ref. 76080 that is presented here today boasts a versatile stainless steel finish, a feminine size and weight, and a sophisticated white dial set with petite Roman and door stop hour markers and silver central hands.
