Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea "James Cameron" 116660B
2008 saw the debut of the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea. Waterproof up to 12,800 feet, the Deepsea is Rolex' most waterproof watch and also boasts a brand new Oyster case outfitted with an innovative Helium Escape Valve, a thicker 5.5mm sapphire crystal, a Triple-sealed screw-down crown, a screw-down case back, and a Ring Lock System. The sophisticated design of the case allows the Deepsea to withstand incredible pressures while performing deep saturation dives to provide a reliable and safe reading.
The example of the ref. 116660 that you see here today is referred to by avid collectors as the James Cameron Rolex and features a unique D-blue dial with a blue gradient design, a Deepsea logo in the same color as Cameron's famous submersible, a ceramic bezel insert, and Chromalight luminous plots. The ref. 116660B is a very prized collector's item that was developed by Rolex as a commemorative timepiece to celebrate James Cameron's history-making dive to the Mariana Trench.
