Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022: Rolex, Tudor, Patek & More Brands Revealed

October 8, 2021

BY Paul Altieri

Each year, collectors and enthusiasts of luxury watches patiently await the early spring, when the world’s most celebrated timepiece manufacturers announce their new models. For many years, it was Baselworld that was the watch world’s star trade show, but following a tumultuous few years (even before the global pandemic), many of the industry’s top brands have either decided to either host their own events or participate in Watches & Wonders Geneva.

Formerly known as the ‘Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie’ (most commonly referred to as just “SIHH”), the event was renamed Watches & Wonders Geneva in October 2019. Despite the fact that the inaugural edition of the rebranded show was forced to adopt an entirely digital format due to COVID-10, the event was considered to be a success and just earlier this week, Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 announced the 39 luxury watch brands that will be exhibiting at next year’s show.

When Is Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022?

As is customary for luxury watch industry trade shows, the 2022 edition of Watches & Wonders Geneva will take place in the early springtime, with the event running an entire week. While the original SIHH show traditionally took place in January, the rebranded Watches & Wonders Geneva event was always supposed to be in the early spring and was originally intended to be held in successive weeks with Baselworld.

According to the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), who are the organizers of the event, Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 will take place from Wednesday, March 30th until Tuesday, April 5th and will consist of both a digital showcase platform and an in-person event, with the physical event set to take place in the halls of Geneva’s Palexpo convention center.

A Hybrid Concept For The 2020 Show

Although Watches & Wonders Geneva was always intended to be an in-person event, restrictions due to the global pandemic have forced it to adopt a digital platform for the last two years. While the digital events did allow participating brands to exhibit their novelties, an entirely virtual showcase was always a temporary workaround, and event organizers were adamant that Watches & Wonders Geneva would return to a live event as soon as the conditioner permitted it.

After two entirely digital editions, Watches & Wonders Geneva returns for 2022 with what the event organizers are calling a “hybrid concept” for the show. Exhibiting brands will be able to debut their new models on the Watches & Wonders digital platform, but there will also be an in-person physical show that will take place in the halls of Geneva’s Palexpo conventions center.

Nothing will ever be able to fully replace a live in-person experience, and this hybrid concept for the show allows Watches & Wonders Geneva to have maximum flexibility should global health and safety guidelines change between now and the start of the 2022 show. Many people have been looking forward to the return of trade shows and in-person events, and Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 might just be the watch industry’s long-awaited reunion.
