Musicians Wearing Rolex: Starting with Rihanna

Musical superstar and fashion icon, Rihanna loves to pile on the jewelry. And when she does, she often adds a solid yellow gold Rolex President to the mix. While the 36mm watch is officially sold as a man’s timepiece, @badgirlriri certainly proves that ladies wear it beautifully too.

Ed Sheeran

English chart-topper Ed Sheeran has a fantastic luxury watch collection by anyone’s standards spanning many different brands and models. And within his watch box lives one of the most desirable vintage luxury watches ever — a Daytona Paul Newman.

Bruno Mars

Music mogul Jay-Z is no stranger to luxury watches. His rap lyrics are peppered with references to some of the finest brands and he even has a line of Shawn Carter by Hublot watches and a limited edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “Jay-Z” collection to his name. Also in his personal watch collection are top Rolex watches like yellow gold and platinum Presidents along with a yellow gold Sky-Dweller. We’ve even spotted Jay-Z rocking the popular steel and ceramic Daytona with the white Panda dial.

What watch does the Boss wear, you ask? A stainless steel Rolex Submariner with black dial and black bezel of course. Much like Bruce Springsteen, it’s an iconic, dependable, and rugged Rolex that will never let you down.

Justin Bieber

Rank: #13

Earnings: $83.5M

Love him or hate him, at 23 years old, Justin Bieber has just collected his largest annual paycheck yet. And it’s a good thing too because he has expensive taste in wrist wear. From what we’ve seen, he’s got a couple of yellow gold and diamond Rolex President models along with a yellow gold and diamond Daytona. He also sports a subtle stainless steel Datejust II with a black dial.

The Weeknd

Rank: #6

Earnings: $92M

In his song, Sidewalks, The Weeknd proudly sang “Homeless to Forbes list” perfectly encapsulating his stratospheric rise to the top of the music scene in recent years. And he isn’t shy about spending his newfound wealth either. Aside from treating his friend to a diamond-encrusted Patek Philippe Nautilus watch for his birthday, The Weeknd has also picked up some fine watches for himself. Most notably we’ve seen him wearing a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date II, an Everose gold Day-Date 40, and a stainless steel Datejust II with a Jubilee bracelet.

Rank: #4

Earnings: $94M

Not that far ahead of The Weeknd is fellow Toronto native, Drake. His insane annual earning is thanks in part to Drake being the world’s most-streamed artist over the past 12 months. Drake likes his Rolex watches to bring a lot of flair to the table. Take for example his lavish gem-set GMT-Master II SANR with diamonds and black sapphires on the bezel. Or his solid yellow gold Daytona with the Paul Newman tribute dial and his yellow gold Sky-Dweller. And let’s not forget his affection for Rolex President models in yellow and Everose gold.

Sean Combs

Rank: #1

Earnings: $130M

Not only is Sean Combs (aka Diddy aka P. Diddy aka Puffy aka Puff Daddy) the highest paid musician on this year’s Forbes list, he claimed top spot for 2017 out of all 100 celebrities. Almost half of his 2017 revenue is due to selling a portion his Sean John clothing line for a whopping $70 million. In addition to his Everose gold Daytona and diamond Datejust, Combs is also a fan of the Day-Date (aka the Rolex President aka the Rollie Presidential).

Whether it’s a new album or embarking on a world tour, it certainly pays to make sweet music. And as these 11 wealthy musicians demonstrate, it’s fun to pick up a Rolex (or two or ten) on the way up the charts. Next up will be Part III of this series where we’ll dig into the watch tastes of the actors that made it on the Forbes’ 100 World’s Highest-Paid Entertainers 2017 list. Don’t miss it!
