5 Hottest Watches Before Baselworld 2018

March 25, 2018

While some brands like to use the element of surprise to drive people to their booth, other brands like to amp up their hottest new timepieces ahead of Baselworld. Here, we’ve rounded up the hottest, most exciting releases announced just before Baselworld 2018. These are the watches buyers and collectors have been talking about, and can’t wait to get their hands on.

Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367 “Grand Feu” Enamel

The Extra-Plat has been a classic since it was first introduced back in 2013, but this year, Breguet outdid themselves when they released the newest model — the Automatique 5367. The Bregeut collection continues to expand with class and finesse. This model was released in early 2018 with a rose gold case and a highly desirable milky-white enamel dial. To top it off, the dial is outfitted in the brand’s Breguet-styled Arabic numerals — in their signature off-centered way — and blue steel open-tipped hands. The look is classic yet modern — quirky yet grand.

On the back of the 44mm case, you can look directly into the movement — all hand-placed and intricately engraved. A juxtaposition to the clean, simple face of the watch, the back showcases the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this piece of jewelry, including the calibre 581. We’ve been drooling over this watch for the past few weeks, and we’re quite excited to see it’s actual debut at Baselworld soon.

Before Baselworld 2018

Breitling has released their Chonoliner. (Credit: Breitling)

Breitling Chronoliner B04

Quite different from the Breitling Navitimer timepiece, the Chronoliner is a stunning piece as well. At the end of 2017, watchmaker Breitling released their c, the B04. With that same oversized 46mm case, they’ve updated the look with rose gold instead of steel, and it contrasts brilliantly against that Aurora Blue dial and serrated bezel. Revered as the ‘flight captains watch,’ this latest model is so sleek and handsome, we thvink more than pilots are going to be clamoring to have one.

The Chronoliner, which the brand is known for perfecting, is outfitted with a 28,800vph B04 automatic chronograph calibre and can keep track of three time zones. In standard fashion for the watchmaker, Breitling is releasing just 250 limited-editions of this timepiece. And while it’s going to be hard to get your hands on one of these, some of the lucky will at least get the chance to check it out at Baselworld 2018.

Before Baselworld 2018

Bell and Ross let the world know about this watch before Baselworld. (Credit: Bell and Ross)

Bell & Ross BR03-94 Horolum

This look isn’t for everyone, but you can’t help but admire the Bell & Ross circle-in-square watch face, even if you wouldn’t wear it yourself. This year, they’ve updating the look with the release of the BR03-94 Horolum, which, compared to the similarly styled and newly-released BR03-92 Horoblack, has a chronograph function. These additional two subdials almost blend totally into the watch face, the micro-blasted steel covering the entire face.

The 42mm case encases a BR-CAL.301 calibre and is surrounded by signature rectangular pushers. Then there’s the face, which features hour markers at 12 and 6 o’clock while the rest of the hour markers and hands are highlighted in the signature, luminous green. Bell & Ross is only releasing 500 of these extraordinary watches, making them highly desirable and most definitely showstoppers at Baselworld.

Before Baselworld 2018

Tag Heuer had a new arrival that caught our attention. (Credit: Tag Heuer)

Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer-02 43mm

This year the Carrera is turning 55, and after more than a half-a-century, this watch has proven to be one of the brands best selling. Now, Tag Heuer has released yet another evolution of their famous timepiece, the Heuer-02 43mm.

So what’s changed? For one, the Heuer 2 is made totally in-house. The Heuer 01 (another evolution and best-seller) was licensed from Seiko technology, but, this newest movement is all Tag Heuer with a 75-hour power reserve, a column-wheel and a vertical clutch, and 4Hz frequency. The watch is a fitting ode to the brands most iconic watch, and we see this latest model becoming an icon of its own. For that reason, we think the Tag Heuer booth is going to be quite crowded as collectors and buyers try and get a peak.

Before Baselworld 2018

The Big Red Hublot is a watch that surely catches the attention of most people. (Credit: Hublot)

Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic

This watch is going to be red hot at Baselworld 2018, literally. Hublot, who likes to shock and awe their fanbase, invented and subsequently patented the technology that allowed them to create this red timepiece.

As if this watch wasn’t eye-catching enough, it’s housed in an oversized 44mm case and features a black dial that gives you a peek into the Unico HUB124 chronograph movement. The face is also outfitted in striking, matching Arabic red numerals and chronograph dials. Hublot will only be releasing 500 of these Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Magic’s, so if there’s ever been a time to check one out, it’s Baselworld 2018.
