Vintage Watch Condition Examination:
This GMT-Master is in great, honest vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The case is strong with normal signs of wear. The bezel is in overall great condition with normal signs of wear; the Pepsi colors are very vibrant. There is a nick and scratch on the Red portion of the bezel, between the 14 and 16. The dial is in great condition. The lume on the dial is an attractive cream color. The hands have a bit of patina and the lume match the dial; the minutes hand has some degredation on the lume. The Jubilee bracelet is in overall great condition with normal signs of wear and light stretch between the links.
Description: Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi 1675
The GMT Master is Rolex’s signature pilot’s watch, complete with dual-time capabilities. It came to market in 1955, with ref. 1675 following shortly after in 1959. It’s one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex watches on the secondary market because it’s instantly recognizable with its 24-hour bezel and dedicated GMT hand. The Rolex 1675 was also notably the first GMT Master to use crown guards. Rolex initially used glossy dials in the 1675 until around 1966 and switched to matte dials.
It was very common for Rolex to change and update watches when they come in for routine service and that is exactly what happened to this watch. These all serviced up examples offer a great value and are ideal for daily wearers. This one with the "Swiss only" dial will still glow in the dark because of the Luminova luminous material used. I have worn this watch everyday for 47 years, had it cleaned every 8 or so years, had the bezel replaced with the new one back in the 80s. Paid $400 in Switzerland in 1970. This is the greatest lifetime deal ever!!
