The Rolex DateJust was first introduced in 1945 with a 36 mm bezel. The model was the first wristwatch on the market to have a date function. Several years later, Rolex introduced a mid-sized and ladies- style adaptation. In 1955, Rolex launched the Turn-o-Graph model to commemorate the US Air Force’s duty in World War II. These models, characterized by their rotating bezels, are informally known as “Thunderbirds”. Watch experts would argue that the original DateJust is the most classic of all Rolex watches, its biggest competitor being the Submariner. Its simply elegant dial is complimented exquisitely with a jubilee or oyster bracelet. The men’s Rolex DateJust is offered in stainless steel with a white or yellow gold combination. The DateJust model remained relatively unchanged until 2009, when the Men’s Rolex Datejust II was introduced with an oyster bracelet. The Rolex DateJust price varies depending on the condition and serial number. Regardless of the price, the DateJust Rolex is a coveted possession for watch collectors and first-time Rolex customers alike.
