ROLEX MARK I EXPLORER 214270
There are two editions of the beloved reference 214270 Rolex Explorer 39 - those with either a Mark I or Mark II dial. When the Explorer initially received the larger 39mm case via ref. 214270, the dimensions of the dial remained the same as its 36mm predecessors. This dial variant has since unofficially become known as the Mark I, or MK I, dial. It features shorter Mercedes hands and silvered Arabic numerals. A few years later, Rolex released the Mark II Explorer, complete with longer hands and fully lumed Arabic numerals. Both dial variants have since been discontinued and are quickly becoming very prized collector's items on the secondary market.
