The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date was introduced to market shortly after its larger cousin the Datejust in the 1950s. Similar to the Datejust, the Date is equipped with a waterproof screw-down crown, a Perpetual movement with automatic winding, and a jump date mechanism. What sets the Date apart is its smaller 34mm case size, which is highly sought-after by collectors of many wrist sizes. The example that you see here today features a steel and gold case and flat-link bracelet, a machine-turned bezel in yellow gold, and a black dial with matching yellow gold indices and hands. The contrast of the dial against the steel and gold case and bracelet creates a versatile statement piece that is easy to dress up or down.
