Finding the Model Number on a Rolex Watch

Rolex has many different model numbers, or reference numbers for each model watch it makes.  For example, a Rolex Datejust has the following model, or reference, numbers that uniquely identify each model;

                               116333   116203   116233   116231   116138   116139   116208   116238

Finding this  number is easy.  Just remove the band or bracelet at the twelve o’clock side and look for the numbers inscribed on the case as shown below.

The Model number can be found between the lugs on the 12 o’clock.

The steps to getting the numbers between the lugs, whether it is the model number or the serial number, are easy. There is further instruction for the first time buyer and general Rolex maintenance tips.
