It took Raonic more than three hours to defeat Federer

In a dramatic semi-final, two Rolex tennis ambassadors, Roger Federer and Milos Raonic, battled it out for a spot in the Wimbledon finals. In the intense 5-set match, Raonic ultimately reigned supreme after 3 hours and 25 minutes with a final score of 6-3 6-7 4-6 7-5 6-3 deflating Federer’s campaign of winning his eighth Wimbledon title.

Not only will this be Raonic’s first Major final, but he’s also achieved a world first as the first Canadian man to reach a Grand Slam singles. Showing off his power serves, the 25-year-old tennis pro, seeded sixth, kept the crowd on their toes as he took down Federer – considered the best tennis player of all time.

Both men are part of the Rolex family serving as the brand’s ambassadors. Both hailing from Switzerland, Federer and Rolex have had an enduring relationship where the tennis ace has diligently worn his Rolex watches each time he raised his countless trophies over his head. One of Rolex’s newest brand ambassadors, Raonic has a promising career ahead of him, already the most successful Canadian singles players in history.

A perfect match as both brands embody prestige and performance, this is the 39th year that Rolex is designated as the Official Timekeeper of The Championships, Wimbledon. Not only is Wimbledon the world’s oldest tennis championships dating back to 1877, but it is also regarded as the most prestigious and the most popular Grand Slam tournaments in the tennis calendar. Around 500,000 spectators gather at the Wimbledon grounds over the two-week tournament period to catch the Gentlemen’s Singles, Ladies’ Singles, Gentleman’s Doubles, Ladies’ Doubles, and Mixed Double matches on the famed grass courts.

Rolex is a well-known supporter of tennis with partnerships with top tournaments around the globe, including the Australian Open, Shanghai Rolex Masters, and Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, and a roster of leading tennis players as ambassadors.

The Rolex Datejust II ref. 116333 with the Wimbledon dial is an elegant tribute to the elegant tournament known for time honored traditions such as an all-white dress code. The pairing of rugged stainless steel and precious 18 yellow gold is perfectly complemented by the slate gray dial and green hued Roman numerals. The 41mm Oyster case is topped with the classic gold fluted bezel while the date is revealed via the window at 3 o’clock and magnified by the iconic Cyclops lens.

As the tournament heads into the final stretch, all eyes will be on Center Court this Sunday to watch the legendary Wimbledon finals where Raonic will face either Andy Murray or Tomas Berdych to play for the prestigious Wimbledon trophy.
