Why Sellers Choose Bob's Watches
Selling a luxury watch comes down to trust. Before you send a watch worth thousands or tens of thousands of dollars to a company you've never worked with, you should know exactly how it will be shipped, inspected, valued, and paid for. That's a reasonable thing to want when you sell your watch, and this page answers it.
The short version: Bob's Watches provides prepaid insured shipping, records the package opening and intake inspection, explains any difference between the preliminary quote and the final offer before you decide, and processes payment within 24 hours after you accept. Here's what each of those protections means for you.
Transparent Pricing, Including Published Rolex Exchange Prices

Bob's Watches built its reputation on pricing transparency, and the clearest example is our Rolex Exchange. For many Rolex references, we publish the price we pay sellers alongside the price we offer the same watch for sale, on the same page. If you're selling a Rolex, that means you can look up the published spread for your reference before you've shared so much as your email address, and judge our offer with real information instead of guesswork. TechCrunch profiled the Rolex Exchange model back in 2014 as a new approach to buying and selling pre-owned Rolex watches, and it still shapes how we quote today.
For other luxury brands, offers are based on the exact reference, condition, originality, included accessories, current demand, and any service the watch may need. Those factors aren't published as a spread, but they aren't a mystery either: we explain how each one affects your offer before you decide whether to proceed.
How We Protect You
Fair pricing means little if the watch is at risk in transit or the evaluation happens behind closed doors, so each stage of the transaction is built to be verifiable.
Prepaid, insured FedEx shipping. When you accept a preliminary quote and use the prepaid FedEx label we provide, the shipment is insured for the quoted value beginning when FedEx accepts the package, subject to the shipping and insurance terms provided with your label. You pay nothing for the label or the coverage.
Recorded intake. Your package opening and intake inspection are recorded on camera, documenting the watch and its condition when it arrives. If the evaluation finds anything that affects the offer, we explain it specifically before you decide whether to proceed.
Established since 1999. Bob's Watches has bought and sold pre-owned luxury watches since 1999 and operates physical locations in Newport Beach, California, and Naples, Florida.
Independent accreditation and industry affiliations. Bob's Watches is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and currently holds an A rating. Bob's is also a member of the International Watch and Jewelry Guild. You don't have to take our word for any of this; check the BBB profile directly or read our seller reviews and testimonials.
Independent press coverage. Bob's Watches and its pricing model have been covered by publications including Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and TechCrunch.
No obligation, ever. The quote is free, and you can decline the final offer after the evaluation. Return-shipping terms are covered in the FAQ below.

Fast Payment After You Accept the Final Offer

Once the evaluation is complete, we call you to confirm the final amount. After you accept, payment is processed within 24 hours by wire transfer or check, whichever you prefer. Bank processing times can affect when a wire appears in your account, and a mailed check takes as long as the mail takes, with an overnight option available. What you won't experience: waiting for your watch to resell, escrow periods, or "payment processing" limbo. Once we agree on a price, the money is ours to send.
Bob's vs. the Alternatives
Every selling channel is a trade-off between speed, payout certainty, effort, and risk. None of the alternatives below is inherently unsafe; they just ask different things of you. Here's an honest look.

A few specifics behind the table. Auction houses can achieve strong prices for rare pieces, but the sale cycle takes months, results depend on bidding and reserves, and seller fees vary by house and agreement. Consignment platforms only pay when the watch sells, which may be quickly or may not be. Peer-to-peer selling puts everything on you: the listing, the vetting, the shipping, and the dispute if something goes wrong. A direct sale trades the ceiling of a perfect auction result for a confirmed number and a fast, low-effort close. Which trade-off is right depends on your watch and your patience.
What Happens to Your Watch After We Buy It

Sellers sometimes ask this, and it's a fair question, because the answer tells you what kind of buyer you're dealing with. After Bob's purchases a watch, it enters our inventory process: authenticated, inspected, serviced as needed by our watchmakers, photographed, and prepared for resale with a Bob's Watches warranty behind it.
That matters to you for a practical reason. Because we take ownership of the watch and stand behind it when it's resold, our evaluation has to account for authenticity, condition, originality, service requirements, and expected market demand. That's why the final offer is confirmed only after a physical inspection, and why the inspection is thorough rather than theatrical.
We buy across the major luxury brands, including Rolex, OMEGA, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Breitling, and Tudor. See the full list of watches and brands we buy.
