By Paul Altieri,
The Rolex Submariner reference 1680 was the first submariner to feature a date wheel and cyclopes crystal and the first to be released in all gold. It was made approximatly between 1966 and 1979 and is known as an excellent collector's watch. The all gold model is especially collectable as there were significantly fewer manufactured compared to their steel counterparts. Initially, the watch dial featured the metric system with meters first (200m=660ft), however around 1971 Rolex changed the dial to read feet first (660ft=200m) in order to accommodate the United States, which was becoming the manufacturer's largest market for the brand.
This particular watch, manufactured in 1968, is 18k gold and features a mint matte black dial with gold "nipple" hour markers. The tritium hour markers have a warm creamy patina. The hands have aged a few shades lighter, but over-all very clean. This 1680 features a sweeping second hand, date window, feet first dial, signed case, dial and movement, and is complete with an 18k YG jubilee bracelet.

outstanding example of Red Submariner. Exactly what I have been looking for.
Item delivered promptly and as described.
A little late on my review but I thought better late than never. I purchased this watch as an every day timepiece and couldn't be happier. I wear it everywhere and it still looks and functions great.
