By Paul Altieri,
The Submariner was the first official dive watch produced by Rolex, offering an initial depth rating of up to 100 and 200 meters in early references. In just under a decade since coming to market in 1954, the model saw numerous changes, including an increase in the case size from 38mm to 40mm, a larger screw-down crown, and various movement upgrades. In 1962, the Submariner 5513 was introduced to the line and was one of the first references to offer a crown guard, coming to market a few years after the ref. 5512 which was the first instance of a crown guard within the line.
Produced until 1990, the ref. 5513 boasts an impressive production run that spans nearly three decades, making it relatively easy to find on the used Rolex market. Not surprisingly, many variations of the 5513 also exist and include many dial options such as glossy, matte, or maxi. This particular vintage Submariner is outfitted with an exceptional Mark III maxi dial, which is characterized by larger hour markers that touch the minute hashes, earning it the nickname “Lollipop.” The placement of the 0’s in the depth rating line up perfectly with the “N” and “E” in the Submariner logo and the 6’s are open. The “F” on the depth rating also features a distinct serif.
The 5513 was also notably equipped with a movement that was not chronometer rated and is not to be confused with the chronometer-rated Submariner 5512 that was produced alongside it. As an older vintage dive watch, the bracelet does feature some stretch, and the case itself shows some signs of light wear. The case also appears to be unpolished. Overall, this vintage Submariner 5513 an intriguing find.

The condition of this vintage Rolex 5513 is nicer than I anticipated based on the age. Your staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help make sure I had enough links in the band.
Just the way I expect it to be, excellente😊 This is my second purchase from Bob’s Watches , the service is great .
