Rolex Submariner 5512
The first very first Rolex Submariner was released in 1955. The Submariner 5512 was debuted just a few years later in 1959. This vintage timepiece comes with an Excellent Mark 1 Maxi dial. Its stainless steel 93150 Oyster bracelet is stamped I5. The Excellent case has the bi-direction rotatable black bezel and houses an automatic 1570 movement. The tritium markers have aged to a beautiful creamy color. The second and hour hand match perfectly while the second hand has aged one shade darker. The reference 5512 features a chronometer rating (making it stand out from the more common 5513) and it was the first Submariner to feature the now signature over-sized crown. The Submariner 5512 was famously worn by Steve McQueen. His personal watch sold at auction in 2009 for $234,000! Manufactured in 1979, this watch is a spectacular example of a vintage Rolex and a true find for anyone who would like to have a piece of the brand's history.
