The Rolex GMT-Master II reference 16710 enjoyed a production run from the late 1980s into the 2000's. During this time, the ref. 16710 saw many upgrades, from a Tritium dial in older references to the Luminova and Superluminova dial in newer references. This is an earlier example of the reference 16710 and features a red and blue “Pepsi” bezel as well as a Jubilee steel bracelet. This watch is a forerunner to the new 126710BLRO (Lot 1 in our auction) and is preserved in attractive condition. Bob’s Watches and Wind Vintage are excited to announce that all proceeds from this watch will be donated to the Horological Society of New York (HSNY).
The dial appears to be original and in good condition, with original tritium lume. The hands appear to be original, with the original tritium luminous material and matching the dial in color.
The case has been polished.
The bezel insert was replaced during a recent service, but the bezel appears to be original.
The steel Jubilee bracelet appears to be original and has been also polished. The clasp code is 62510H, with 502B end links, and an R2 bracelet code, dating it to February 1993. The serial number has been hand engraved on the inside of the clasp, presumably during a Rolex service.
The crown appears to be the original Twinlock crown. The crystal has been replaced during a recent service, with a Rolex crystal. The watch is running and keeping time, and a one-year service warranty is included. The bracelet has 19 links and will approximately fit an 7.25 inch wrist.
Please note that all proceeds from the purchase of this watch will be donated to the Horological Society of New York. We do not give any legal or tax advice regarding charitable contributions, so please consult a legal or tax adviser with any questions you might have.
