Pre-owned Cartier Santos Dumont ref WSSA0086 is the purist’s Santos. To understand it, you have to separate it from the standard Santos. The regular Santos (especially the modern Santos de Cartier) is much sportier: thicker case, automatic movement, integrated bracelet, more everyday versatility. The Santos-Dumont is different. Slimmer. Lighter. Closer in spirit to the original 1904 watch Louis Cartier designed for Alberto Santos-Dumont so he could read the time mid-flight. This Small model measures 38mm x 27.5mm but wears elegantly thanks to its thin 7.3mm profile. The steel case has the familiar square silhouette with exposed screws, but everything feels more refined and dress-forward. The satin-brushed silver dial has a subtle sunray effect, framed by crisp Roman numerals and blued-steel sword-shaped hands. The beaded crown, set with a blue cabochon, adds that unmistakable Cartier touch. This model runs on a high-autonomy quartz movement with an approximate six-year battery life, which helps keep the case ultra-thin.
