The Tank Française was introduced in the late 1990s and was the first Tank sub-model to feature a fully integrated metal bracelet, giving the classic Tank design a more modern, almost architectural look. It quickly became a favorite of the era's style icons (Princess Diana wore hers often) and it didn't take long for the watch to earn its reputation as one of the most wearable Tanks Cartier has ever made. This example is furnished in stainless steel and yellow gold, with a 29mm case that wears comfortably and feels more substantial than earlier leather-strap Tanks. The matching two-tone bracelet flows cleanly into the case, which is really the whole point of the Française design. A silver guilloché dial with Roman numerals is very Cartier, while the automatic movement adds a bit of mechanical credibility. It's refined, practical, and stylish.
