Pre-owned Cartier Santos de Cartier Chronograph Watch ref WSSA0017 (2022) is one of the most important watches in watchmaking, originally created in 1904 when Louis Cartier designed a wristwatch for his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, so he could check the time while flying. Over the decades, the Santos has remained very recognizable thanks to its square case, rounded corners, and the exposed screws that define the bezel. This modern chronograph version brings that historic design into a sportier format. The extra-large 43.3mm stainless steel case is paired with a dark ADLC-coated bezel that creates a striking contrast against the brushed silver dial. Black sword-shaped hands with luminescent material keep the display easy to read, while the chronograph complication adds practical timing functionality. The crown is set with a faceted black synthetic spinel. Inside beats Cartier’s automatic caliber 1904 CH MC chronograph movement.
The watch looked nice in pictures, but was even better in person. For a pre-owned Cartier watch, it almost looks new.
