A few decades ago, Rolex toyed with the idea of developing a luxury variation of the Submariner divers watch. The result? The Yacht-Master. Its design closely mirrors that of the Submariner, offering a dial set with lume, a large 40mm Oyster case, and a rotatable timing bezel. The main difference, however, is the addition of precious metal bezels and a lower water resistance of 100 meters. Designed as a tool watch for sailing, the bezel's main function is to sync with race start times and measure distances while sailing. Newer references, such as the 6-digit 116622 that is offered here today, utilize a maxi dial set with large luminous hour markers and Rolesium, a combination of 904L stainless steel and 950 platinum.
