The 3717 marked a shift for IWC, updating the earlier 3706 with a larger 42mm case and a more modern dial, while keeping the same proven chronograph movement inside. The design pulls heavily from the Big Pilot playbook, with a bold chapter ring, clear Arabic numerals, and those signature propeller-style hands that make it easy to read at a glance. It also features a practical day and date display at 3 o’clock, along with a chronograph that can track up to 12 hours. This example is paired with an alligator strap, which gives it a slightly more refined aesthetic on the wrist compared to the usual tool-watch setup. It’s a well-balanced pilot’s chronograph that bridges classic IWC design with a more contemporary size.
