Pre-owned IWC Pilot's Spitfire Chronograph IW387901 (2022) takes the familiar pilot’s chronograph formula and refines it into something a bit more balanced and wearable. The Spitfire embraces IWC’s aviation roots, with subtle tributes to vintage military wristwatches like the Mark XI, but updated with modern proportions and mechanics. This reference came is the stainless steel alternative to the earlier bronze version, keeping the same design but with a more classic, versatile design set. The 41mm case is compact for a pilot’s chronograph, though it still has that solid IWC presence on the wrist. Brushed surfaces dominate, with polished pushers and crown adding contrast. The black dial is clean and highly legible, with crisp white numerals, a tri-compax layout, and cream-toned luminescent details that give it a slightly vintage aesthetic. Flip it over, and you’ll find the engraved Spitfire caseback. Inside is IWC’s in-house caliber from the 69000 family, with a column-wheel chronograph.
