By Paul Altieri,
The OMEGA Speedmaster is one of the most iconic watches ever made due to its rich history in space. NASA selected the Speedmaster for use on its famed Apollo missions and Speedmasters accompanied astronauts to the Moon and continue to be used by astronauts to this day. This particular reference 145.022-69 was produced in 1970 and has a dial that has turned a beautiful "tropical" brown. There is a small number of examples of this reference from circa 1969 to 1970 where the black paint on the dial has turned a beautiful and rich brown with age. The black "Dot Over 90" / "DON" tachymeter bezel and the chronograph functions provide the perfect tool watch for professional use while driving, allowing the wearer to measure speeds and increments of time simultaneously. According to the Archives of OMEGA, this watch was produced on July 7, 1970 and originally delivered for sale in Switzerland.
