This vintage Omega Constellation is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The gold capped case is in great condition with some nicks and signs of wear. The medallion on the caseback is still prominent and the caseback has some scratches. The Omega crown is possibly a replacement. The bezel has remained in good condition with some signs of wear. The dial has developed a fine patina with some marks and a few blemished throughout that can be hard to notice. There is a small blemish to the left of the faceted date window and another just above the "Constellation" writing. The non-lume hands have developed light patina. The applied Omega logo and star on the dial have developed patina. This has a 19mm brown leather strap with matching gold toned hardware. The crystal is signed with the Omega symbol in the center and has some scratches and light wear.
Vintage Omega Constellation ref. 168.017 was released in 1966 and carried over the newer C-shape case design. This "C-shape" name comes from the case appearing as two "C" shapes opposite of one another. An interesting design indeed and one that comes from the famed Gérald Genta, same designer who would go on to create the Patek Philippe Nautalis, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Credo Locomotive. This houses the automatic Caliber 564 and a somewhat funky way to change the date and time. As a quick breakdown, the settings are reversed in that you must pull the crown to the second position to change the date (pulling in and out gently to the second position will change the date only (quick-set) and the time is set in the first position). A bit unconventional by today's standards but was more common to find in the 60s and 70s.
Beautiful 34mm two-tone Omega. I was afraid it may have been overpolished, but it is near perfect for its age. Incredible polishing and brushing. My wife has had a Lady's Manhattan, and now I finally have a Gent's 95. Both two-tone quartz. Although they are not mechanical, the convenience and accuracy are unmatched. Ludo from Bob's was quick to respond to questions and even called me to ensure I was satisfied. Excellent customer service!
