Panerai Luminor Set PAM786
SIHH 2016 brought us the Panerai Luminor Daylight PAM 650 8 Days and Black Seal PAM 649 that you see here today. Both watches were sold in a set under the reference number PAM 786 and are inspired by the pre-Vendôme era, a short window of time from 1993 to 1997 before the Panerai brand was acquired by Vendôme.
The Daylight PAM650 features a large 44mm polished stainless steel case, a white "sausage" dial topped with blue Arabic and baton hour markers and hands, and an attractive blue leather strap bracelet closed by a stainless steel tang buckle. The PAM 649 is a left-handed watch that features a 44mm case as well but in PVD-coated stainless steel. In stark contrast to the Daylight PAM 650, the PAM 649 displays the time on a black "sausage" dial topped with vintage-inspired lume. The case wears on a brown leather strap bracelet with contrasting stitching and a matching PVD-coated tang clasp.
Both the Black Seal PAM 649 and the Daylight PAM 650 are powered by a mechanical movement with an impressive 8-day power reserve. The case backs on both the Black Seal PAM 649 and Daylight PAM 650 mimic the design of the pre-Vendôme era watches, making them rare (only 500 units produced) and widely sought-after collector's items.
