Do you know anyone that uses their Submariner for scuba diving? The vast majority of Rolex Submariners never touch water let alone get used for their designed purpose of diving. Why is that? Is it because the owners are afraid to trust the water seal? If that true it’s a waste of incredible engineering including a screwdown case back, a trip-lock, waterproof crown and pressure sealed crystal. Is it a fear of the time keeping not being accurate enough to record your air tank capacity? If that’s true it’s a waste of a state of the art movement (no matter which version of submariner you have). I think the real reason this that the watch is stunning, simple, bold and iconic and people don’t care about diving. People just want a stylish and beautiful timepiece to wear! The submariner delivers in spades there.
This 5513 Submariner is in excellent shape with a strong case, pierced lugs and a newer 93150 oyster bracelet. It has a replacement, chronometer certified, 5512 dial that is in beautiful shape. The hands have aged to a wonderful eggshell patina and the minute hand luminous material is slightly cracked. The fat font bezel insert is in excellent condition.
