Pre-owned Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref 5066A (2000 - 2009) is an early example of the collection and the first model to sport a transparent case back. To rewind a bit, Patek developed the Aquanaut in 1997, introducing its catalog to a more casual sports watch than the already-established Nautilus. It features a contemporary "tropical" rubber strap and a different embossed square motif on the dial. However, the Genta-inspired aesthetic from the Nautilus remains in the form of a distinctive rounded octagonal bezel. If there were a collection-worthy model, this early example would be it. It holds a special place in the series' history as the first to display the movement via the case back and sports a striking black and steel design set.
