Pre-owned Patek Philippe Neptune ref 5081J-001 (2000) is a watch you might not have seen before and one that is hard for even the most experienced luxury watch collectors to resist: the Patek Philippe Neptune. This collection came to market in the late 1990s, right before the contemporary Aquanaut and, as its name suggests, was inspired by the water. Quite a few examples are floating around, but this yellow gold Patek 5081J is particularly collection-worthy. The case is furnished in yellow gold and features a textured bezel that somewhat resembles fish scales or gills. Some examples are paired with matching metal bracelets with scale-inspired links, which would explain the bezel here, but this one keeps it classy in leather. It displays the time on a black dial via a date at 3 o'clock and gold Roman numerals at the remaining three cardinal positions. A minute track surrounds the dial just below the hour markers, reminding the wearer that this model is a sport-luxury watch at heart.
