This "Top Hat" is in overall great vintage condition. The case is in overall great condition with some scratches and normal signs of wear. The gold hallmark on the side of the case at 4 o'clock is clearly visible. The caseback has a Patek service sticker on it still. The crown appears to be a later "Calatrava Cross" style replacement. The "Sigma" service dial is in good condition with some patina and wear around the edge (areas to note are around 7-8 o'clock). The hour markers and hands have developed light patina. The crystal has light wear.
This reference 1450 "Top Hat" is a chance to own a gold Patek Philippe watch without breaking the bank. This dress watch features a yellow gold 37 x 20mm (H x W) case topped with large domed acrylic crystal and rectangular case. This is one of the lesser-known references and is given the rather apt nickname of "top hat" given due to the case shape above the crystal looking like a little top hat. The 18k gold case is elegant art deco and rather sophisticated. Our favorite part of this vintage Patek Philippe is the dial, which is fairly minimal in its design having a mix of small dots with stick hour markers and hands. We also love the "hooded" style lugs that give the watch more wrist presence. This watch was originally intended for a mans wrist, but today it would be suitable for anyone's wrist.
