Rolex previously only made platinum watches with smooth bezels because the metal is notoriously difficult to machine and work with. However, back in 2022, the Crown announced that it was discontinuing all smooth-bezeled platinum Day-Dates in favor of the fluted variety, a true showcase of the brand's immense technical prowess and dedication to its enduring dress-watch aesthetics. Just as curious is the blue gradient dial. Usually, we see platinum Rolexes with exclusive icy blue dials. However, here, the time is displayed on a vibrant blue gradient dial and via a newer configuration of Roman numerals. While older models featured a full set of thicker Roman numerals, modern Day-Dates like these have a cleaner, more elegant look thanks to the thinner Roman numerals and alternating stick markers.
