It was meant for mountain climbing and braving the world's toughest terrains, after all, so there wasn't a need for flourishes of gold. That is where the ref. 124273 comes in. Released in 2021, it was the first Explorer in Yellow Rolesor, a two-tone finish that pairs Oystersteel with 18k yellow gold. By incorporating gold into its design, Rolex has elevated the mountaineer's watch, bringing it to the same level as the likes of the two-tone Submariner and GMT Master II.
