Pre-owned Rolex Explorer ref 114270 (2004) was released in 2001 as the successor to the ref. 14270, and kept the classic 36mm formula intact. Same clean black dial. Same 3-6-9 layout. Same no-date symmetry that traces back to the Explorer’s tool-watch roots. Rolex didn’t mess with what worked. The updates were mostly mechanical. The older caliber 3000 was replaced by the caliber 3130, offering a slight bump in power reserve to around 48 hours, along with a Parachrom hairspring and a full balance bridge for improved shock and temperature resistance. Those features would go on to define modern Rolex movements. The dial also evolved subtly, “Swiss Made” beneath 6 o’clock replaced the earlier “Swiss,” confirming the use of Super-LumiNova. It also has solid end links on the bracelet, which give the watch a more substantial feel than earlier versions. Production ran until 2010, when Rolex upsized the Explorer to 39mm with the ref. 214270.

I just got the watch in the mail and it is in excellent condition. It had the original box and instructions which were also in great condition. Bob's authentication letter/report was an added plus.

Pros: 1)Watch was better than I was expecting for a late model Rolex. Absolutely perfect cosmetics and function. 2) Perfectly serviced and keeping amazing +1 sec over several days. Better than most new Rolex’s I have purchased from an AD. 3) Price was good considering the watch was fully serviced with one year warranty. Also came with original boxes and accessories so the value was there. 4) Fast overnight shipping. Ordered Sunday evening, had watch in hand Tuesday afternoon. Well packaged, Descrete and very securely wrapped to prevent tampering.
