Pre-owned Rolex Explorer ref 214270 (2010) has the collector's favorite Mark I dial. Used Rolex watches with this type of dial feature slightly shorter hands and silvered Arabic numerals. When ref. 214270 was initially released in 2010, it brought with it a larger case size and displayed the time via luminescent baton hour markers and silvered Arabic numerals. Furthermore, the hands were slightly shorter, which many passionate collectors pointed out didn't match the proportions of the larger case. Rolex listened to the criticism, releasing the Mark II model 2016 with slightly longer hands and luminescent 3/6/9 numerals. Now that this model has been discontinued, both dial variants are very prized collector's items.
