Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master II ref 116718 (2007 - 2008) marked a major turning point for the GMT-Master collection. Released for the model’s 50th anniversary, it was the first GMT-Master II to feature Rolex’s ceramic Cerachrom bezel, here presented in black with gold 24-hour graduations that match the solid 18k yellow gold case. The launch version also introduced the now-famous green dial, often called the “Anniversary Dial,” which gave the watch a bold look that immediately set it apart from earlier GMT references. Rolex later added a black dial option to the lineup, but the original green dial remains a collector favorite. This reference also debuted the “maxi” dial layout with larger hands and hour markers for improved legibility. Inside beats the caliber 3186 automatic movement with an independently adjustable local hour hand for tracking multiple time zones. Two-tone and stainless steel ceramic GMT models would follow soon after, but the 116718LN was the watch that started the modern ceramic GMT era.
