The Rolex Deepsea utilizes an innovative Oyster case, which is outfitted with a Triplock screw-down crown with three sealed zones, a Ring Lock System that allows it to maintain a thickness of under 18mm, a lighter-weight titanium case back, and a Helium Escape Valve. The Helium Escape Valve plays a vital role in the Deepsea's ability to withstand depths of up to 12,800 feet as it allows the gasses that collect inside the case while performing deep saturation dives to escape without dislodging the crystal. As a diver, Rolex also equips the Deepsea with a unidirectional bezel, a luminous display, a thicker sapphire crystal, 904L Oystersteel, and a secure Oysterlock clasp that won't pop open while in the water. The ref. 116660 also features many modern upgrades such as a ceramic bezel insert, improved luminous material on the dial, and an anti-magnetic calibre 3135 Perpetual movement.
