The very first Rolex Seamaster Deepsea was released in 2008 via ref. 116660. Similar to its cousin the Seamaster, the Deepsea offers a Helium Escape Valve that allows the case to decompress properly while performing deep saturation dives. The case is also equipped with an innovative Ring Lock System as well as a 5mm thick sapphire crystal and a Triplock screw-down crown, allowing it to withstand depths of up to 3,900 meters/12,800 feet. As a newer addition to the Rolex catalog, the case also features a maxi dial with a larger Chromalight display as well as a Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert. The Deepsea measures larger than most of the other timepieces in the Rolex catalog with a 44mm in diameter and wears on a flat-link Oyster bracelet secured by a tool-free Glidelock clasp. 904L-grade Oystersteel maintains a handsome finish that won't easily scratch or corrode when exposed to sunlight or salt water. If you seek a dive watch with a larger presence on the wrist, the preowned Rolex 116660 may be the perfect timepiece to consider.
