Rolex Air-King 14000
The Air-King was developed by Rolex in 1945 and was a member of Rolex's "Air Series", which also included the now-discontinued Air Lion, Air Tiger, and Air Giant. Rolex drew inspiration for their Air Series from military combat pilots, who Rolex had come to learn preferred to use their Oyster Perpetual watches instead of their military-issued timepieces. Just like the Oyster Perpetuals, the Air-King boasts a waterproof Oyster case and a perpetual movement that reads true, even while flying at high altitudes. The Air-King also measures a modest 34mm, which makes it the perfect size for everyday wear, and is paired with a matching three-link Oyster bracelet and Fliplock clasp. The steel finish is perfect for combat and is paired with a sapphire crystal over the dial. The Air-King price is also quite modest, making it an appealing choice for entry-level collectors.
