Rolex Explorer 214270
The Rolex Explorer first appeared in the 1950's. Its design was inspired by Sir Edmund Hillary's historic climb to the top of Mount Everest. It is rumored that on the wrist of either Hillary or his companion Tenzing Norgay (it's not known for sure who wore a Rolex to Everest's summit) was a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch. Even though the Oyster Perpetual was exposed to extreme weather conditions and high altitudes it never skipped a beat. To celebrate, Rolex released the Explorer. The 6-digit Rolex 214270 for sale here is a modern variation of the classic Explorer and boasts a 904L steel finish, baton and Arabic hour markers, Mercedes hands, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal over the dial, and a waterproof Oyster case with a Triplock screw-down crown. A three-link Oyster bracelet accompanies the case and holds secure via three-piece links and a folding Oysterlock clasp.
