The Rolex Yacht-Master was developed in the early 1990s as a Regatta timer. The sport is often associated with a luxurious lifestyle, a factor that contributed greatly to the overall design of the Yacht-Master. Similar to its cousin the Submariner, the brand's iconic regatta timer is equipped with a 60-minute bezel, a 40mm waterproof Oyster case, and a luminous display, complete with Mercedes hands. What sets the two models apart, however, is the Yacht-Master's decreased waterproofness of up to 100 meters, a bi-directional bezel crafted from precious metal, and case shape, which features more sharply tapered and polished lugs. The ref. 116622 that you see here today is a newer variation of the line that showcases a Rolesium finish of 950 platinum and 904L Oystersteel and a dark rhodium dial with icy blue accents.
