Rolex rarely introduces brand new models to their catalog, which made the 2007 release of the Yacht-Master 2 even more exciting. Initially offered only in yellow gold, The Yacht-Master is now available in a few metal options, including the Oystersteel ref. 116680 that is available for purchase here today. The ref. 116680 is a popular choice among preowned Rolex collectors for its affordable stainless steel finish as well as its robust proportions, which include a 44mm case and a new-style Oyster bracelet with more solid construction and an Easylink extension clasp. The case also features a desirable blue Cerachrom ceramic insert as well as a dial topped with square luminous hour markers in blue surrounds and older non-Mercedes hands. Newer models present the hour markers in white gold surrounds and feature classic Mercedes hands on the dial. The Yacht-Master II was developed as a sophisticated regatta chronograph and includes a programmable count-down as well as an innovative Flyback function.
