Pre-owned Rolex Date ref 1500 (1959) is an earlier example of the series produced sometime in the early 1950s. The similarly styled Datejust debuted the decade prior in 1945, making it the first mechanical wristwatch with an automatically changing date display. The Date followed shortly after, featuring an identical design, right down to the 3 o'clock date, waterproof Oyster case, and self-winding Perpetual movement, but with a slightly smaller 34mm case. It's often considered an entry-level option and appeals to a broad range of collectors, men and women alike, on the hunt for a functional watch that flies a little more under the radar. Ref. 1500 is a stunning vintage Date with an older-style acrylic crystal over the dial, a comfortable 5-link Jubilee bracelet, and a matte black dial with Tritium.
