Pre-owned Rolex Day-Date II ref 218238 (2014) represents a short but important chapter in the Day-Date story. Produced from 2008 to 2015, the Day-Date II was Rolex’s first attempt at scaling the President up, introducing a larger case before eventually giving way to the more refined Day-Date 40. At 41mm, the proportions feel bold and substantial, especially in solid 18k yellow gold, while still retaining the familiar fluted bezel and President bracelet that define the model. This example features a champagne dial with Super-LumiNova hour markers, adding a more contemporary, legible aesthetic compared to traditional Roman or stick dials. Inside is the caliber 3156, an upgraded movement with improved shock resistance and Double Quickset for independent day and date adjustment. Discontinued and produced for less than a decade, the Day-Date II is a distinct and very collectible alternative to the Day-Date 40.
