Pre-owned Rolex Daytona ref 116506 (2022) marked the model's 50th anniversary. While many anticipated a stainless steel refresh for the anniversary, Rolex instead took an unexpected turn by debuting its first platinum Daytona, an ultra-premium take on the legendary chronograph. Unveiled in 2013, the watch combined a striking icy blue dial (now a platinum Rolex signature) with a chestnut brown ceramic bezel and was paired with a full platinum case and bracelet, delivering one of the most opulent Daytona variations to date. At its core is the tried-and-true caliber 4130, a workhorse movement that defined the Daytona collection for over 20 years. Production of the 116506 continued until 2023 when it was succeeded by the ref. 126506. Now retired, the diamond dial version of the 116506 has become increasingly sought after, prized by collectors who appreciate its bold departure from tradition.
