Pre-owned Rolex Deepsea ref 136668LB (2024). Last year, Rolex sent a collective shock wave through the watch-collecting community by releasing a solid gold edition of its Deepsea, a watch rated waterproof up to 12,800 feet, and a watch that really has no business being clad in precious metal other than to exude a level of prestige and class. We've seen gold Submariners and GMTs, but ref. 136668 is a different story altogether. For starters, it's bigger, at 44mm in diameter, and features everything you need to venture thousands of feet below the surface of the ocean, including a Helium Escape Valve, a Triplock crown with three sealed zones, a thicker sapphire crystal, and Rolex's innovative Ring Lock System. What sets this model apart from other Deepseas is its lustrous yellow gold finish and nautical blue bezel and dial. Rolex opted for a lacquered blue dial instead of a sunray finish for this model, perhaps to aid in underwater legibility and to help distinguish it from the gold Submariner. It's certainly a magnificent watch that will no doubt become the crowning jewel of your collection.
