Description: Rolex Explorer 214270
Pre-owned Rolex Explorer ref 214270 (2010) is a worthy contender as the next great sleeper Rolex because it flies under the radar with its understated design set yet boasts a fascinating history that is bound to add to its collectability far into the future. As the story goes, when Rolex released ref 214270 in 2010 with a slightly larger 39mm case, many keen-eye collectors quickly pointed out that the proportions of the hands were slightly off. Rolex seemingly took the constructive criticism to heart and revamped the dial in 2016 to feature longer hands and fully-lumed Arabic hour markers. Collectors distinguish the two different dials from one another as Mark I and Mark II. The example you see here was among the first iterations of the ref. 214270 and sports the older-style MK I dial with silvered Arabic numerals and shorter hands.
