The GMT Master line was developed by Rolex in the 1950s together with the Pan American Company. The airline was the first to offer transatlantic flights from New York to Paris and sought a tool watch with dual-time capabilities to equip their pilots with. The result was the GMT Master, which offered a 24-hour bezel that could be adjusted by the wearer to sync with military or local time. As a Rolex sports watch, the GMT Master was also equipped with a tough Oyster case that offers resistance to pressures of up to 100 meters as well as a reliable movement with self-winding technology.
