The Rolex 16700 holds a special place in Rolex history as the last reference produced under the original GMT Master collection. It was eventually discontinued to make way for the GMT Master II with an independent 24-hour hand. While ref. 16700 does not offer this upgrade, it is still a highly prized collector's item as the last in the GMT Master series.
