By Paul Altieri
Rolex was founded in 1905. Since that time many of the timepieces produced by the brand have been present during some of humanity's most impressive accomplishments, from the first summit of Mount Everest to more recently James Cameron's record-breaking deep saturation dive. The Oyster Perpetual 1007 joins the ranks these impressive watches as it was likely the watch that accompanied Sir Francis Chichester as he became the first man to sail around the world via the "Clipper Route" alone, a feat that was no easy task and that he greatly credits his success to the Oyster Perpetual. It's still up for debate as to which reference he had on his wrist exactly, but it's rumored to have been a 1007. The vintage Rolex that is listed here today is an excellent opportunity to add a history-making Rolex to your collection at an entry-level price.
